The Manitoba Metis Federation is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Conservation Specialist to join our team in Winnipeg, MB. As a key member of our Energy, Infrastructure and Resource Management Department, you will play a vital role in the preparation and implementation of conservation projects throughout Manitoba.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with environmental field work, data collection, and analysis to support conservation projects.
  • Collaborate with MMF staff to develop and implement project plans, ensuring effective project management and logistics.
  • Ensure all equipment is properly maintained, organized, and in good working order.
  • Support the winterization and storage of equipment and supplies at the end of each program season.
  • Contribute to daily work logs, safety records, and seasonal reporting to ensure accurate project documentation.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate project success.
Requirements:
  • Currently enrolled in post-secondary education in a related field, such as environmental science, conservation biology, or a related field.
  • Land-based education or experience is considered an asset.
  • Wilderness First Aid, First Aid, and CPR training is an asset.
  • Experience working in outdoor environments, including adverse weather conditions.
  • Understanding of conservation and environmental work, including general knowledge of Manitoba ecosystems.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Experience working with boards and/or committees is preferred.
  • Experience working for a not-for-profit organization and Indigenous community is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Métis culture, MMF programs, and services is a definite asset.
  • Ability to travel and possess a valid Manitoba Driver's license with access to a reliable vehicle.
