Job Title: Project Engineer - Water Engineering

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Engineer to join our team at the Halifax Port Authority. As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for planning, design, and supervision of construction projects related to the Port's minor Capital projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and execute repairs through qualified contractors or by supporting HPA's internal maintenance team.
  • Ensure timely progress of projects through the design and construction stages and monitor project costs and schedules.
  • Provide direction to consultants during conceptual design of projects and during construction component of projects.
  • Ensure quality of materials and overall work provided by contractors complies with the specifications for all contracted out works.
  • Check quantities of materials and work invoiced in contractors' progress claims to verify that monies claimed by contractors accurately reflect the work carried out and the materials supplied.
Requirements:
  • Degree in Civil Engineering combined with a minimum of 1-2 years' experience in construction, or infrastructure maintenance experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certified Professional Engineer or in progress of obtaining (EIT).
  • High degree of proficiency with SharePoint and Microsoft Office 365.
  • Knowledge in AutoCAD and GIS (Geographical Information System) is an asset.
