Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Pathologists Assistant I to join our team at U of A Hospital and two additional locations. As a key member of our anatomic pathology team, you will play a critical role in the examination and preparation of specimens for diagnosis.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform gross examination of specimens from biopsy and surgical procedures, selecting sections for processing.
  • Work closely with pathologists and residents to ensure accurate and efficient examination and documentation of specimens.
  • Assist in the preparation of remains for autopsy, including receiving and preparing specimens.
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff to ensure smooth operation of the anatomic pathology department.
Requirements:
  • Master's Degree in Pathologists' Assistant or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Active or eligible for certification with the Canadian Certification Council of Pathologists' Assistants (CCCPA).
  • Recent experience grossing specimens of all complexities.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Epic – Beaker, AP Modules.
  • Experience with DMO or other voice recognition dictating software.
  • Experience teaching learners to gross.
