Renewable Energy HSE Specialist Position

Brunel is seeking a highly skilled Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist to join our team in Saint Laurent, Quebec. As an EHS Specialist, you will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive programs to ensure the safety of laboratory and working environments.
Job OverviewThis role involves monitoring, transporting, storing, and keeping records on hazardous materials, as well as ensuring fire safety equipment is functioning properly. You will also be tasked with implementing environmental health and safety programs and initiatives, assisting in emergency response planning, and conducting weekly surveys of laboratory and waste areas where low-level radioactive materials are used.
Responsibilities- Ensure the safety of laboratory and working environments by monitoring, transporting, storing, and keeping records on hazardous materials;
- Implement environmental health and safety programs and initiatives;
- Assist in emergency response planning;
- Conduct weekly surveys of laboratory and waste areas where low-level radioactive materials are used;
- Conduct inspections, collect, store, and dispose of bio-hazardous, chemical, and radioactive waste; and
- Maintain industrial hygiene equipment and perform ill-monitoring of laboratory and support personnel.
To be successful in this role, you must possess a strong foundation in environmental health and safety principles. A Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health or a related field is preferred, but relevant work experience can be considered in lieu of formal education. Strong coordination and organizational skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work on-site full-time in Saint Laurent are essential requirements.
