Job Summary

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a key role within Leo Pharma Inc., responsible for providing scientific expertise and support to external and internal stakeholders. This field-based position requires a strong understanding of the dermatology therapeutic area and the ability to communicate complex scientific information to various audiences.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Scientific Leadership: Provide regional scientific leadership through credible scientific engagement with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and as a subject matter expert.
  2. KOL Engagement and Development: Develop and maintain relationships with KOLs in the assigned region, engaging them with credible, fair-balanced scientific information about Leo Pharma products, research activities, and product development initiatives.
  3. Engagement Planning: Develop engagement plans for each KOL, including tactics such as speaking or clinical research opportunities, and build strong and sustainable business relationships to develop KOLs into advocates and scientific champions for Leo Pharma products.
  4. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with the Commercial Team and other cross-functional business partners to build a coordinated approach in KOL engagement across functions.
  5. Scientific Information Provision: Be a major source of balanced medical information for healthcare professionals (HCPs) and address scientific questions, including queries on safety and off-label use of Leo Pharma products based on available scientific data.
  6. Scientific Support: Provide scientific support to cross-functional business partners, including support for formulary submissions for new products.
  7. Regional Scientific Insights: Contribute regional scientific insights to the Integrated Scientific Affairs Plan (iSAP) and define engagement strategies for each KOL across the entire lifecycle of the product.
  8. Territory Planning: Develop a plan of action for managing KOLs, including segmenting and prioritizing KOLs, determining engagement models, and collecting scientific competitive intelligence.
  9. Scientific Knowledge Maintenance: Maintain up-to-date scientific knowledge and be an expert on Leo Pharma products and the dermatology therapeutic area, with regular and extensive review of scientific literature, attendance at key scientific meetings, Leo training sessions, and preceptorships.
  10. Scientific Presentations and Communication: Develop scientific presentations (slide decks) and assist with publications, posters, and other scientific communication programs.
  11. Training and Education: Play a critical role in training and scientific education both internally and externally, communicating with the Medical, Patient Solutions team, and Commercial Business managers, sharing knowledge and field insights in a compliant manner.
  12. Clinical Research Support: Assist the Medical Advisor in Leo clinical research initiatives, including global clinical development programs and investigator-initiated studies (IIS), identifying potential investigators and research projects, assisting in protocol development, site selection, recruitment strategies, and Clinical Operations collaboration.
  13. Pharmacovigilance and Compliance: Recognize that PV cases may come to your knowledge in this role and fulfill the responsibility to forward any adverse event and patient safety cases to the local Pharmacovigilance department in accordance with company policies.
  14. Compliance and Training: Ensure compliance with appropriate SOPs, policies, and guidelines, complete mandatory training in assigned timelines upon hire, and participate in personal development and training sessions as required for the position.
  15. Health and Safety: Work in a safe manner that does not endanger yourself or coworkers, report any health or safety concerns (internal and external) in compliance with Leo Pharma policy and standard procedures.

Requirements
  1. Medical Doctorate (MD), PhD, or Pharm D: Preferred.
  2. Master's Degree in Life Sciences: With a focus on immunology and/or healthcare professional background.
  3. Thorough Knowledge of the Healthcare System: Disease management and clinical research.
  4. Dermatology Therapeutic Area and Market Knowledge: Biologics experience considered an asset.
  5. Excellent Interpersonal, Communication, and Presentation Skills: Including ability to network.
  6. Proven Ability to Develop and Foster Peer-to-Peer Relationships: With stakeholders.
  7. Demonstrated Ability to Organize, Prioritize, and Work Effectively: With minimal supervision in a constantly changing environment.
  8. Willingness to Travel: Up to 50% of the time.
  9. Evening and Weekend Work: Involved.
  10. Ability to Understand and Summarize Clinical Data: And scientific publications, effectively putting data into perspective and communicating relevant clinical evidence to HCPs to expand their understanding of Leo Pharma products.
  11. Ability to Research Scientific Literature: And write reports, papers, and research protocols.
  12. Solid Understanding of GCP, IMC Code, and Healthcare Compliance Policies: And procedures.
  13. Excellent Teaching Skills: And ability to present and discuss scientific material clearly and concisely.
  14. Ability to Work Independently: Engaging KOLs and researchers in a scientific dialogue, handling objections, and managing issues.
  15. Demonstrated Critical Thinking: In effectively and ethically addressing unsolicited off-label questions based on available clinical evidence.
  16. Ability to Function in a Highly Regulated Environment: Adhering to all Leo Guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), yet responding to a variety of scientific questions and requests from HCPs.
  17. Strong Strategic Thinking and Planning Skills: And demonstrated ability to take initiative, impact decision-making, and follow through.
