Occupational Health and Safety Specialist

FortisBC is seeking a dedicated professional to enhance our safety culture as an Occupational and Health Business Partner. As a trusted resource and subject matter expert, you will coach and mentor our leadership teams and employees to promote a healthy and safe work environment.
Key Responsibilities- Develop a deep understanding of our business unit structure, organizational values, and corporate safety programs.
- Build relationships with key stakeholders and support the advancement of our safety culture.
- Guide our safety programs and initiatives, working closely with Joint Health and Safety Committees and engaging with Operations teams.
- Provide subject matter expertise and review/update our safety programs to ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
- Support other working groups related to health and safety programs.
- A bachelor's degree in environmental and occupational health and safety or a related discipline, plus four to seven years of recent experience in the field.
- Formal qualifications in safety investigations and root cause analysis, and a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation or the ability to obtain one.
- An empathetic and fair mindset when working with clients and stakeholders.
- A motivated team player who thrives in a collaborative environment.
- A proven ability to multi-task and prioritize various projects.
