Sheet Metal Fabricator

Black & McDonald Limited is seeking an experienced Sheet Metal Fabricator to join our team in Saskatoon, SK. As a key member of our fabrication team, you will be responsible for reading and interpreting engineering blueprints, fabricating metal components or structures, and performing quality checks on finished products.
Key Responsibilities- Read and interpret engineering blueprints to determine fabrication requirements
- Construct base templates as needed
- Measure and mark out cutting and bending lines
- Set up metalwork machinery, including rollers, drill presses, flame cutters, brakes, and shears
- Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements
- Set up components for welding according to specifications
- Operate angle grinders to prepare parts for welding
- Align components using calipers, rulers, etc., and clamp pieces
- Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions
- Perform quality checks on completed products
- Conform to state and company safety regulations
- Complete job reports

- Registered apprentice or Red seal journey person ticket
- Relevant industry experience
- AWS certification and advanced welding experience
- Proficiency with metal fabrication tools, including shears, rollers, flame cutters, and drill presses
- Clean Class 5 SK Driver's License and abstract
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to maintain a professional demeanor with fellow employees, customers, and stakeholders
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of basic computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook and mobile device applications
