About This Career Opportunity

Black & McDonald Limited is seeking an experienced Sheet Metal Fabricator to join our team in Saskatoon, SK. As a key member of our fabrication team, you will be responsible for reading and interpreting engineering blueprints, fabricating metal components or structures, and performing quality checks on finished products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret engineering blueprints to determine fabrication requirements
  • Construct base templates as needed
  • Measure and mark out cutting and bending lines
  • Set up metalwork machinery, including rollers, drill presses, flame cutters, brakes, and shears
  • Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements
  • Set up components for welding according to specifications
  • Operate angle grinders to prepare parts for welding
  • Align components using calipers, rulers, etc., and clamp pieces
  • Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions
  • Perform quality checks on completed products
  • Conform to state and company safety regulations
  • Complete job reports

Education and Experience Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Registered apprentice or Red Seal journey person ticket
  • Relevant industry experience and AWS certification
  • Proficiency with metal fabrication tools, including shears, rollers, flame cutters, and drill presses
  • Clean Class 5 SK Driver's License and abstract
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook and mobile device applications
