Sheet Metal Fabricator

Black & McDonald Limited is seeking an experienced Sheet Metal Fabricator to build high-quality metal components for our clients. As a Sheet Metal Fabricator, you will be responsible for reading and interpreting engineering blueprints, fabricating metal components or structures, and performing quality checks on finished products.
Key Responsibilities- Read and interpret engineering blueprints to determine fabrication requirements.
- Construct base templates as needed to ensure accurate fabrication.
- Measure and mark out cutting and bending lines to ensure precise fabrication.
- Set up metalwork machinery, including rollers, drill presses, flame cutters, brakes, and shears, to facilitate efficient fabrication.
- Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements.
- Set up components for welding according to specifications, including cutting material with powered saws to match measurements.
- Operate angle grinders to prepare parts for welding.
- Align components using calipers, rulers, etc., and clamp pieces to ensure accurate welding.
- Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal, or overhead).
- Perform quality checks on completed products to ensure they meet specifications.
- Conform to state and company safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
- Complete job reports to document fabrication activities.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors.
- Continuously learn and improve fabrication skills and knowledge.
- Focus on delivering high-quality products and services to customers.
- Solve problems and innovate fabrication processes to improve efficiency and quality.
- Value and respect colleagues, customers, and stakeholders.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Registered apprentice or Red Seal journey person ticket.
- Relevant industry experience, including AWS certification and advanced welding experience.
- Proficiency with metal fabrication tools, including shears, rollers, flame cutters, and drill presses.
- Clean Class 5 SK Driver's License and abstract.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to maintain a professional demeanor with colleagues, customers, and stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of basic computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook and mobile device applications.
