Job Overview

The Director, Commercial Asset Management, is responsible for managing a commercial ABL lending portfolio and overseeing a portfolio of about 10 relationships, including syndicated transactions and bilateral facilities for upper middle market borrowers. The selected candidate will join the Asset Based Lending Group, which focuses on senior debt financing opportunities with borrowers involved in various industries across Canada.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare credit recommendations regarding risk, deal structure, and client requirements by analyzing financial and operational data of existing clients.
  • Directly manage the annual review process, interim reviews, specified quarterly reports, and resolution of exceptions.
  • Manage the risk of the assigned complex portfolio in a timely and precise manner.
  • Provide research and data gathering to facilitate solutions to the client's/prospect's business and needs.
  • Make recommendations to senior leaders on strategy and new initiatives, based on an in-depth understanding of the business/group.
  • Conduct independent analysis and assessment to resolve strategic issues.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure adherence to prescribed policies and procedures and overall safety of the Bank's position.

Requirements

  • Master or MBA degree (finance, accounting, economics, or related field) with 5 years of relevant experience preferably in a transaction execution role or an undergraduate degree with 7 years of relevant experience. Previous experience in an Asset-Based lending role would be a definite asset.
  • Good understanding of the Asset-Based Lending product, marketplace, and loan structuring would be preferable.
  • Well-developed analytical and quantitative skills with a focus on financial and accounting analysis, as well as data and statistical analysis.
  • Strong computer literacy and technical skills as it relates to basic Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills in French and English.
  • Excellent negotiation skills with both clients and legal counsel.
  • Strong organizational and collaboration skills with the ability to prioritize work and manage multiple tasks while meeting time-sensitive deadlines.

BMO Financial Group's total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
