Senior Executive Leading Indigenous Economic Prosperity

The First Nations University of Canada is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to lead our National Institute for Indigenous Economic Prosperity. As Senior Executive, you will be responsible for advancing our organization's mission to enhance the quality of life and preserve the history, language, culture, and artistic heritage of First Nations people.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a clear strategic vision for the National Institute, ensuring alignment with the University's mission and goals.
- Lead the advocacy, identification, and storytelling of exemplars of economic reconciliation.
- Manage the National Institute budget, developing and reviewing budgets and expenditures in collaboration with senior management.
- Provide leadership and support to staff, ensuring effective recruitment, selection, training, and performance monitoring.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to bring awareness of the National Indigenous Economic Strategy for Canada and the work of the National Institute.
Requirements
- At least nine years of progressively responsible experience in senior management roles, with exposure to community development, business development, and economic development.
- Strong understanding of Indigenous economies, business, and entrepreneurial histories and current landscape.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proven proficiency in budget preparation and fiscal management, with strong interpersonal and community relation skills.
- Ability to speak a First Nations language would be an asset.
