Job Overview
A temporary Cell Laboratory Specialist position is available at the Eastern Ontario Regional Laboratory Association (EORLA) until approximately January 03, 2025.

This role involves managing sample reception, accessioning, and preparation for diagnostic testing, as well as analysis, interpretation, and result reporting of clinical/pathology samples. The incumbent will also assist with training, identify and resolve unsuitable specimens, maintain records of tests and procedures performed, and may rotate through different specified job functions.

Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Laboratory Technologist program or equivalent prior learning assessment program;
  • Current registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO) in Cytology;
  • Familiarity with relevant accreditation standards, healthcare regulations, and medical laboratory theory, principles, and practices;
  • Understanding of occupational health and safety legislation;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Effective problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
The successful candidate must be willing to provide a satisfactory Criminal Records Check dated within six months from the issue date. Additionally, they must adhere to EORLA's Mandatory Vaccination Policy, which requires proof of full vaccination with a vaccine approved in Canada. Candidates who cannot be vaccinated due to medical reasons or other Human Rights Code grounds may request accommodations.

Work Schedule
The position involves working days and evenings, including weekends, with 8-hour shifts. Please note that EORLA reserves the right to adjust the work schedule as needed.

Preferred Qualifications
  • A minimum of six months to one year of experience in a related field, unless the candidate completed clinical placement in one of EORLA's labs;
  • A relevant university degree from a recognized program;
  • Bilingualism is considered an asset.
