EORLA/ALREO, a leading provider of diagnostic testing services in Eastern Ontario, is seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Specialist to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to contribute to the preparation and analysis of complex specimens in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
About EORLA/ALREO
We are a member-owned, non-profit organization operating 18 licensed, acute-care hospital-based clinical laboratories that serve clinical programs across the Champlain Region of Eastern Ontario. Our laboratories perform approximately 13 million tests annually, covering various disciplines such as Anatomic Pathology, Biochemistry, Transfusion Medicine, Hematopathology, and Microbiology/Virology.
Job Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing sample reception, accessioning, and preparation for diagnostic testing, as well as analyzing, interpreting, and reporting results. Additionally, they will assist with training, identify and resolve unsuitable specimens, maintain records of all tests and procedures performed, and may rotate through different job functions.
Requirements
To be considered for this position, applicants must hold a Certification with The Canadian Certification Council of Pathologists' Assistants (CCCPA). A minimum of six months to one year of demonstrated experience grossing complex cancer cases is also required. Knowledge of relevant accreditation standards, health care regulations, and medical laboratory theory, principles, and practices is essential. Good communication and interpersonal skills, as well as sound problem-solving and conflict resolution skills, are also necessary.
Benefits
This position offers a competitive salary of $60,000 per annum, plus benefits including Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan, Healthcare/Dental/Vision Plans, Travel Assistance, Life and AD&D Insurance, Short and Long Term Disability, and Employee & Family Assistance Plan.
Rotation/Shifts
Days and evenings, including weekends, 8 hour shifts are typical. Please note that rotation/shifting schedules may change at any time.
