Mental Health Nurse Specialist

Job Summary:
The Mental Health Nurse Specialist will work in the Psychiatric Emergency Service at St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton, providing care for patients with complex mental illnesses. The successful candidate will have experience in emergency psychiatry and addiction treatment.

Responsibilities:
- Provide quality, holistic nursing care for patients with complex mental illnesses
- Assess, plan, and organize treatment interventions
- Document and evaluate interventions
- Model professional leadership and provide decision-making support within the inter-professional team
Requirements:
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario required
- CNA certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing (CPMHN(c)) or commitment to complete within 5 years
- Minimum of one year of recent mental health nursing experience with demonstrated knowledge and skill in caring for patients with serious mental illness
- Demonstrated knowledge of legislation relevant to psychiatric/mental health nursing, including the Mental Health Act and Consent and Capacity
Estimated Salary: $85,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience
