**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Outreach Counsellor to join our Native Healing Centre team. As an Outreach Counsellor, you will provide 1:1 counselling services and workshops to clients within our supportive housing developments and Native Healing Centre.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide client-centered counselling to individuals who need mental health supports but who are experiencing accessibility challenges.
  • Embrace harm reduction practices, culturally responsive support, trauma-informed practices, and an overall holistic approach to mental well-being.
  • Work collaboratively with clients to identify and achieve their personal goals.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that address the unique needs of each client.
  • Provide education and support to clients on mental health topics, including stress management, coping skills, and self-care.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care and support for clients.
  • Participate in regular team meetings and contribute to the development of program policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Social Work or a related field. Master's degree considered an asset.
  • Certification in or willing to obtain: First Aid, Class 4 Driver's License, Suicide Intervention, and Conflict Resolution.
  • Ability to undergo a successful criminal record search.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care and practices.
  • Ability to utilize a strength-based approach to work with clients.
  • Ability to motivate others towards achieving their personal goals.
  • Ability to work independently with strong sense of focus, task-oriented, nonjudgmental, open-minded qualities, and a clear sense of boundaries.
  • Ability to work in a variety of settings with culturally diverse families and communities with the ability to be culturally sensitive and appropriate.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
