Position Summary:

The Department of Medicine at The Ottawa Hospital and the University of Ottawa is seeking a visionary leader to serve as the Head of the Division of Infectious Diseases. This is an exceptional opportunity for a highly qualified individual to lead a dynamic and productive group of physicians in clinical, educational, and research activities.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide academic and clinical leadership to the Division of Infectious Diseases
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to advance the Division's mission and goals
  • Collaborate with the Department of Medicine and The Ottawa Hospital to ensure alignment with institutional objectives
  • Lead the Division's clinical, educational, and research activities
  • Ensure high-quality patient care and excellent patient outcomes
Qualifications:
  • MD degree and eligibility for membership in the Canadian Medical Protective Association
  • Certification in Infectious Diseases by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada
  • Licensure in Ontario
  • Strong academic and clinical leadership skills
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
Additional Information:

The successful candidate will join a dynamic and productive group of physicians who participate in clinical, educational, and research activities. The Division of Infectious Diseases is an academically intensive division with 16 full-time and 10 part-time academic staff members. The successful candidate will be part of a team that is recognized internationally for their contributions to medical research and education.

The Ottawa Hospital is a 1150-bed tertiary-care hospital serving Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec. The hospital has four inpatient sites and one ambulatory centre. The hospital receives approximately 50,000 inpatient admissions, 160,000 emergency visits, and over one million outpatient visits annually.

The Department of Medicine is a research-intensive department with 25 University Research Chairs. The department receives approximately $60 million per year in external research funding and publishes approximately 1200 peer-reviewed publications annually.

The Faculty of Medicine is a nationally recognized leader in medical education and research. The faculty has a long history of conducting high-quality basic and clinical research in partnership with five affiliated academic hospitals and six research institutes.
