Job Title: Construction Project Coordinator

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Construction Project Coordinator to join our dynamic team on a one-year contract. The successful candidate will assist in the planning, execution, and completion of capital building projects, renewal projects, and other development projects for schools, administrative buildings, and facility partner projects from inception to completion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage multiple construction projects to support the efficient, economical, and safe operation of DSBN Facilities.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation to ensure compliance with the Construction Act, including project plans and schedules, contracts, budget records, progress reports, meeting minutes, compliance records, quality assurance documents, communication logs, and project closeout documents.
  • Maintain clear and open communication channels with project partners, including team members, clients, and vendors.
  • Review and approve project invoices, shop drawings, warranties, operation manuals, and as-built drawings.
  • Understand and interpret design specifications, schematics, and drawings of large complex construction projects.
  • Review Building Hazardous Materials Assessments and assist in obtaining approval for Site Plan Agreements and building permits.
  • Perform final inspections, develop deficiency lists, and ensure that all issues are addressed and corrected.
  • Support the project procurement process to ensure it aligns with Board purchasing procedures.
  • Thorough knowledge of consultant and construction contracts and tendering procedures, change order management, financial reporting, and tracking.
  • Coordinate with school staff, operations staff, and contractors to minimize disruption to facility operations during construction and relocation of occupants prior to and after construction to facilitate project completion.
  • Provide support and coordinate with the move coordinator to ensure sites are ready for construction.
  • Inspect construction sites for adherence to contractual project specifications and project requirements.
  • Provide support with final inspections, develop deficiency lists, and ensure that all issues are addressed and corrected.
  • Evaluate the performance of contractors and consultants, providing feedback and recommendations.
  • Requires wearing safety equipment (e.g., safety shoes, hard hats) when visiting construction sites.
  • Perform additional duties as required to support project and organizational objectives.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • 3-year diploma in Construction Management, Engineering, Architectural, or Construction Technology.
  • 2 years of experience in the construction industry.
  • A valid driver's license.

Working Conditions:

The successful applicant is required to work in person at the Education Centre located in St. Catharines, Ontario, and travel to DSBN facilities throughout the Niagara Region.
