Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our care team at Mariposa Gardens Community & Retirement Living. As a LPN, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality nursing care to our residents, ensuring their comfort, dignity, and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide nursing care in accordance with established policies, physician's orders, and resident plans of care.
  • Ensure the safekeeping of drugs and narcotics, and follow protocols on all assigned shifts.
  • Create a comfortable and safe environment that promotes resident autonomy, independence, and individuality.
  • Optimize each resident's potential to achieve or maintain maximum functional ability.
  • Seek direction from the RN when resident needs exceed your experience or scope of practice.
  • Exercise sound nursing judgment by reporting any change in resident status in a timely manner to the Registered Nurse.
  • Foster an atmosphere that is conducive to the provision of optimal care, and the effective functioning of the assigned resident home area.
  • Liaise with medical team members, nurse specialists, consultants, and support effective clinical care for all residents.
  • Continually assess your own nursing practice and learning needs.
  • Participate in and attend in-service programs, conferences, seminars, and workshops.
  • Document priorities, target dates, and strategies or interventions on the individualized care plan.
  • Work with the resident, family members, and interprofessional team to systematically collect data for the nursing history on admission, readmission, and change in status.
Requirements:
  • Diploma in Practical Nursing.
  • Current registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses BC.
  • Successful annual completion of RAI MDS certification as per Ministry of Health requirements for AIS.
  • Current First Aid with CPR.
  • All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check (applicable to Ontario applicants) and Criminal Records Check (applicable to British Columbia applicants).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Long Term Care Experience.

Compensation: Leveling rate of pay $32.84 - $41.35 per hour until such time that wage leveling ends, then the pay rate will reflect the collective agreement pay rates starting rate.
