Job DescriptionAccountability

The Accounting and Payroll Executive is accountable for all functions and activities related to the payroll department. This includes maintaining accurate and timely payroll information in accordance with government regulations and collective agreements.

The role also involves processing payroll costing and statistical hours to the general ledger, reconciling and balancing year-to-date (YTD) payroll balances, and handling internal and external payroll inquiries.

Main Responsibilities
  • Maintain strong operating controls and policies/procedures/systems relating to the payroll function.
  • Provide training to centre personnel on payroll procedures and systems.
  • Preparation of financial analysis and reports relating to the department.
  • Identify and implement payroll changes required resulting from new collective agreements, Oracle upgrades/patches, year-end updates, etc.
  • Manage the development and implementation of new business processes and systems relating to the department.
Employee Relations

This role is responsible for all employee relations, including staff recruitment, training, and development, performance management and expectations, performance reviews, development action plans, discipline, recognition, terminations, administration, and enforcement of human resource policies, security, and union contract compliance.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Completion of Level 2 - Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) in the CPA Certified Payroll Manager program or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Advanced computer skills in Excel and Word.
  • Ability to organize, plan, and control with a minimum of supervision.
Estimated Salary Range:

$80,000 - $110,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
