Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Engineer to join our team at Fraser Health. As a key member of our data strategy team, you will be responsible for providing senior consulting to our executive leadership on data and data management initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead enterprise-wide information systems projects, managing timelines and resources, and providing leadership to team members.
  • Coordinate the procurement and management of external services, ensuring alignment with our strategic direction.
  • Develop and implement application architecture, ensuring that projects and initiatives are aligned with our business needs.
  • Provide project leadership to large, complex projects, developing and managing project timelines, and facilitating change management strategies.
  • Ensure project closure by providing post-implementation evaluation, measuring key outcomes, and documenting lessons learned.
  • Provide leadership to staff assigned to lead small to medium-scale projects, providing guidance on project requirements, budget management, and technical issues.
  • Manage assigned projects using standard documentation methodologies, ensuring that all aspects of the project are well-documented.
  • Champion data management methodologies and best practices through mentoring, coaching, and communicating with team members, business units, and staff.
  • Research and analyze market, technology, and industry trends and standards related to data management, providing recommendations on the use and evolution of applications and tools.
  • Provide expert advice and consultation on technology alternatives and solutions, ensuring that our data infrastructure and systems support our organization's data-driven initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Health Information Science, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Seven years of related experience in a large, complex organization.
  • Advanced knowledge of information management, business processes, technologies, and applications.
  • Ability to provide leadership to a variety of large project teams, translating business needs into application architecture requirements.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the project management process and the systems development life cycle.
  • Ability to be organized, goal-oriented, proactive, solution-oriented, pragmatic, and able to understand the long-term and short-term perspectives.
