Animal Centre Manager

About the Role:
The BC SPCA is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Animal Centre Manager to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for the effective management, oversight, and care of people and animals in the assigned Animal Centre.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, promoting the BC SPCA's strategic directions at a local level.
- Ensure all BC SPCA policies are adhered to in the delivery of services, including animal welfare standards and administrative responsibilities.
- Manage and lead Animal Control Officers and other field staff, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and discipline.
- Administer assigned annual budgets and ensure effective customer/stakeholder relations.
- Identify community needs and provide input into ways to address gaps, engaging in fundraising activities and providing statistical reports on Animal Centre performance.
- Represent the BC SPCA in a professional and knowledgeable manner, speaking to local media as required.
Requirements:
- Post-secondary education in an applicable field, plus related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable to the employer.
- Excellent communication skills and genuine desire/ability to work with a diverse range of people in a positive manner.
- Genuine compassion for animals and sound knowledge of the Five Freedoms and related animal welfare standards.
- Demonstrated ability to organize work, meet priorities, and work within a demanding work schedule with minimal supervision.
- Valid Class N or 5 BC Drivers' License and driver's abstract.
- Computer skills – Windows, MS Office incl. PowerPoint and Excel.
- Philosophical harmony with the BC SPCA mission, vision, and strategic directions.
