Job Summary
The College of the North Atlantic is seeking a skilled Culinary Specialist to join its team. As a key member of the Food Service department, this individual will be responsible for the preparation, cooking, and serving of meals for the cafeteria and special functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook meals for the cafeteria and special events
- Use a variety of cooking equipment and maintain a safe and sanitary kitchen environment
- Clean and sanitize workstations and equipment
- Meet with supervisors to plan cafeteria specials and maintain inventory
- Perform lifting and moving of large objects, including bulk food and kitchen equipment
- Stand for long periods throughout a typical shift and use a variety of kitchen equipment requiring controlled movements
Requirements
- One year Certificate in Commercial Cooking or related field
- Relevant experience in food preparation and service
Assessment Criteria
- Knowledge of the culinary arts industry, including food preparation, service, safety, and sanitation in a commercial kitchen
- Effective organizational skills for maintenance of an organized kitchen
- Ability to problem solve
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to establish professional working relationships with students and staff
Compensation
CG-25 - $23.31 to $25.68 per hour
