Job Description

Job Title: Production Operations Director

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Production Operations Director to join our team at Fluidigm. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our manufacturing facilities, driving continuous improvement, and leading a talented team of technicians and supply chain professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and Monitor Plant Performance: Develop and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure plant performance and drive continuous improvement.
  • Plan and Direct Production Activities: Establish production priorities, manage production schedules, and ensure effective use of resources.
  • Oversee Purchasing and Planning Team: Lead the purchasing and planning team to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of materials and services.
  • Implement Lean Practices: Drive the implementation of lean principles and practices to eliminate waste and improve efficiency.
  • Establish a Culture of Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging employees to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Actively Manage and Coordinate Production Activities: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective production planning, scheduling, and execution.
  • Lead Health and Safety Committees: Participate in health and safety committees to develop and implement strategies to improve health and safety performance.
  • Collaborate with Quality Team: Work with the quality team to develop and implement standard operating procedures and work instructions to ensure best-in-class quality performance.
  • Oversee Maintenance and Equipment Activities: Ensure effective maintenance and equipment management to optimize production and utilization of personnel and equipment.
  • Review and Analyze Production Reports: Analyze production reports to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
  • Responsible for Supplier Oversight and Strategy: Develop and implement supplier strategies to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of materials and services.
  • Liaison with Commercial Team: Collaborate with the commercial team to ensure production planning and execution align with business objectives.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Related Field: Required.
  • 12+ Years of Progressive Manufacturing Experience: Required.
  • 8+ Years of Supervisory/Management Experience in Manufacturing: Required.
  • Lean Methodology Experience and Mindset: Preferred.
  • Strong Financial Acumen: Required.
  • In-Depth Knowledge of Manufacturing Operations: Required.
  • Experience in ISO 13845 Quality and Standards: Preferred.
  • Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Required.
  • Leadership, Communication, Problem-Solving, and Analysis Skills: Required.
  • Proven Track Record of Success in Implementing Programs and Business Initiatives: Required.
  • Ability to Energize and Develop All Levels of the Organization: Required.
  • Global Mindset: Required.
