Educational Support Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Educational Support Specialist to join our team at the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board. As an integral member of our school community, you will provide support to students with exceptional needs, working collaboratively with teaching and other professional staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities- Provide individualized support to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and students with developmental disabilities
- Participate in pool programs, academic support, and implement special programs to meet the diverse needs of students
- Support students with learning disabilities, speech/language issues, and other exceptionalities
- Assist with outside yard duties, lifting, toileting, and/or pool duties as required
- Community college diploma in Developmental Services Worker, Child and Youth Care/Worker, or equivalent
- Minimum of 1-2 years of related experience working with school-aged special needs children
- Valid First Aid certification/CPR Level C
- Completed Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, TCI, and/or Behaviour Management Systems (BMS) training
- Experience working in high school settings
- Experience working with autistic students
- Assistive technology skills
- Current BMS and/or advanced BMS certification
