Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Power Engineer and Mechanic to join our team at Shearer's Foods. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the efficient installation, repair, and maintenance of high-speed food manufacturing machinery and equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • HEAT EXCHANGER/UTILITIES
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety codes, procedures, policies, and regulations.
    • Monitor alarms, gauges, and other instruments associated with plant operations and adhere to Alberta regulations.
    • Optimize equipment and processes to achieve maximum efficiency.
    • Maintain a daily log of operation, maintenance, and safety activities on the utilities systems.
    • Participate in and support safety initiatives.
  • MAINTENANCE
    • Comply with 100% safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized work area.
    • Perform mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting, and repair of production machines, baggers, conveyors, etc.
    • Troubleshoot and take corrective action to prevent equipment or system failures.
    • Complete daily maintenance and repairs as requested by unscheduled work orders and/or department managers and supervisors.
    • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
    • Be proficient in electrical and PLC controls.
    • Perform other duties as required.
    Requirements
    • Must possess a Class 4 Alberta power engineer certification.
    • Have 2 years' experience managing and troubleshooting boilers.
    • Additional certification as Millwright is an asset.
    • Be able to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Be proactive and contribute to the department's goals.
    • Be organized and detail-oriented.
    • Be able to work a rotating shift, including extended hours and weekends.
