Job Summary

As a Brake Press Operator at S&C Electric Canada Ltd., you will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC machines to bend and form sheet metal products in accordance with specifications. You will work closely with the Supervisor of Metal Fabrication and the Team Leader to ensure the production of high-quality parts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up, adjust, and operate CNC machines according to work orders and specifications.
  • Comprehend blueprint drawings and perform bend requirements in accordance with specifications.
  • Perform manual programming adjustments to achieve quality parts.
  • Use manual pump trucks, cranes, and lift devices to move material and finished products.
  • Monitor machine operation and perform troubleshooting tactics when necessary.
  • Ensure parts are manufactured in accordance with quality standards, target plans, and verify correct run quantities.
  • Visually inspect parts after each machine cycle and perform inspections as required.
  • Optimize the running of parts to best take advantage of the machine's operating time.
  • Filling out production boards with output for the shift and assisting in planning afternoon shift production.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the work area and follow organizational practices.
  • Strive for continuous improvement in all aspects of the work environment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues as required.
Requirements
  • High school diploma.
  • Post-secondary education or CNC certification considered an asset.
  • Minimum 1-year experience as a CNC Machine Operator.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read an imperial tape measure and blueprints.
  • Excellent mechanical/mathematical aptitude and manual dexterity.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement manufacturing principles considered an asset.
