Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Director to lead our commercial projects. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of construction projects, including planning, organizing, budgeting, and cost reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct all aspects of construction projects, including planning, organizing, budgeting, and cost reporting.
  • Ensure that project goals and objectives are accomplished on schedule and within budget.
  • Oversee the activities of direct report entities, including Safety Manager, Quality Manager, Engineering Manager, and Construction Manager.
  • Ensure effective and compliant management and coordination of engineering, procurement, material control, construction, and system testing.
  • Establish and maintain a competent resource in each area to meet contract requirements.
  • Develop and maintain effective business relationships with owners, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Represent the company in preparation and presentation of reports to the executive committee and third parties.
  • Provide written correspondence as necessary with clients, designers, partners, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Manage personnel, labor planning, and compliance, including union management.
  • Administer financial tracking systems to monitor project costs and estimates.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree or diploma in a related field of study, such as Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Project Management.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant project experience in a heavy civil major project environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of construction industry practices, methods, processes, and standards.
  • Professional designation, such as Professional Engineer or Project Management Professional, is considered an asset.
  • Experience applying knowledge of project accounting, project controls, material management, contract management, subcontract management, safety, and quality.
  • Track record of successfully planning and executing major projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Proficiency in English and French.
  • Ability to apply, interpret, and understand contract law and language.
  • Clear understanding of Alternative Project Delivery models, mechanisms, risks, and interface management.
  • Proficiency in common business and construction applications, such as Microsoft Office products.
