We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Department Head to lead our Emergency Medicine team at Peace Arch Hospital. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for coordinating functions and activities of the department, participating in the Multidisciplinary Healthcare Coordinating Committee, and ensuring the effective delivery of clinical services.
Key Responsibilities- Effective Delivery of Clinical Services
- Ensure that services of members of the department are delivered effectively within the parameters of the regional and site service delivery plans.
- Liaise with the Regional Department Head and department medical staff to establish, monitor, and ensure compliance with budget, volume, and quality targets.
- Quality and Utilization Monitoring/Improvement
- Ensure members of the department are engaged in multidisciplinary quality improvement and utilization management activities.
- Investigate complaints regarding care provided by medical staff.
- Local Medical Administration
- Attend meetings of the Multidisciplinary Healthcare Coordinating Committee.
- Function as the channel of communication to and from the regional department.
- Recommend policies and guidelines relating to medical/clinical matters.
- Local Physician Resource Planning
- Review physician resource requirements with the Regional Department Head.
- Contribute to the selection of new staff members.
- Dispute Resolution
- Mediate disputes involving Department members.
- Medical Legal Issues
- Identify potential liability issues and provide advice.
- Current licensure with CPSBC.
- Two years leadership experience within the healthcare sector.
- Additional training in management is preferred.
The term of appointment as Department Head shall be for three years, renewable by the Regional Department Head.
