Calgary, Alberta, Canada PurposeMed Full time
About Us

PurposeMed is a pioneering healthcare organization committed to delivering cutting-edge solutions that bridge the gap in access to complex care for underserved communities. Founded in 2019, our mission-driven team has made remarkable strides in the first few years, serving thousands of patients each month across multiple verticals.

Our organization comprises three complex care business units: Freddie, Frida, and Foria, with a strategic partnership with Affirming Care Pharmacy. Freddie focuses on improving sexual health through education, prevention, and treatment, catering specifically to the LGBTQ2S+ community. We are now the largest HIV prevention service in Canada and have expanded to the USA to further increase access to care. Frida revolutionizes adult ADHD diagnosis and treatment, providing fast and affordable solutions. Foria Clinic offers gender-affirming healthcare services to trans, non-binary, and gender-diverse Canadians. Our pharmacy partnership enables end-to-end healthcare experiences for patients, from treatment to prescription delivery and continuous affirming care.

We're honored to be recognized as one of LinkedIn's Top 15 Startups in Canada and a member of the prestigious Team True North roster as one of Canada's fastest-growing and most promising startups. Our culture is deeply rooted in our mission, with a passionate team dedicated to bringing healthcare to those who need it most. We believe in having fun while making a difference.

Job Description

We seek an exceptional Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to drive technological innovation, build powerful systems, and align technology initiatives with PurposeMed's overall business strategy. As a key member of our executive team, you'll oversee all technical aspects of the company. You will lead an engineering, product, and design team that enables unparalleled patient experiences at a sustainable cost through technology. Reporting directly to the CEO, you'll collaborate with our founders and leaders from various functions to ensure we're building solutions that address our patients' complex needs in a scalable way. Ultimately, you'll help our team provide life-changing, affirming care to tens of thousands of patients.

Responsibilities:
  • Drive Technological Innovation and Strategy: Develop a clear vision and plan for the technology team to deliver a world-class telehealth experience that advances the business, combining efficient use of proprietary and off-the-shelf software.
  • Deliver Exceptional Patient Experiences: Identify opportunities for technology to improve convenience, accessibility, and quality of care, protecting patient information by ensuring compliance with Canadian and U.S. healthcare privacy and security regulations.
  • Develop a High-Performing Engineering Team: Clearly articulate the vision, inspire the team with a shared purpose, and implement management practices that maintain high standards for quality and velocity in the engineering, product, and design organization.
About You

We're seeking a seasoned leader with 8+ years of experience in leadership roles, including 3+ years at VP-level equivalent or higher in performance-oriented, dynamic technology companies. Your expertise should include successfully overseeing the design, development, and maintenance of service platforms and high-performing technology teams. Excellent communication skills are essential, along with the ability to synthesize complex information quickly and disseminate actionable insights to various audiences.

You must have a strong business acumen and commercial mindset, with a deep understanding of the relationship between commercial operations, unit economics, and financials (P&L). A natural bias toward action and collaboration is crucial, as is an innate understanding that business success is a shared endeavor.

Experience building technology for a highly regulated industry is a plus, as is demonstrated expertise in overseeing and integrating data management, IT infrastructure, and security/compliance functions. Familiarity with regulatory frameworks like GDPR and HIPAA is also beneficial.

Benefits

We offer a comprehensive compensation package, including a competitive salary range of $250,000 - $350,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. Additionally, you'll receive stock options through our Equity Incentive Plan, connecting your efforts to PurposeMed's growth as we work together to improve lives across North America.

Our benefits package includes work/life flexibility, time off, extended medical and dental care, wellness days, mental health coverage, fertility benefits, parental leave programs, and more. Eligible team members and their dependents can also access no-cost services from our clinics, such as PrEP assessments and follow-up appointments, ADHD assessments, and gender-affirming care services.

We're proud to be an equal-opportunity employer, welcoming applicants from diverse backgrounds. If you're passionate about innovative healthcare solutions, collaborative environments, and making a meaningful impact, we encourage you to apply.
