About the RoleThe Financial Controller will be responsible for preparing timely and accurate financial statements, management reports, and other financial documentation as required by senior management, the board of directors, and key stakeholders. This includes monitoring cash flow, managing liquidity, and ensuring the organization has adequate funding for its operations and growth.
The ideal candidate will have a recognized Canadian accounting designation (CPA) and minimum 7 years of experience in a similar not-for-profit role with both external audit and in-house financial management experience gained in a high-growth organization.

Responsibilities- Financial Reporting: Prepare timely and accurate financial statements, management reports, and other financial documentation as required by senior management, the board of directors, and key stakeholders.
- Cash Flow Management: Monitor cash flow, manage liquidity, and ensure the organization has adequate funding for its operations and growth.
- Internal Controls: Develop, implement, and maintain internal control policies and procedures to safeguard the organization's assets and ensure the integrity of financial records.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including tax filings, audits, and financial reporting standards.
- Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making, including variance analysis, cost-benefit analysis, financial modeling, and scenario analysis for future fiscals.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and lead the finance team, providing guidance and professional development opportunities.
- Systems Improvement: Continuously assess and improve financial systems, processes, and policies to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- A recognized Canadian accounting designation (CPA) mandatory; a master's degree in business administration, financial management, or accounting preferred.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in a similar not-for-profit role with both external audit and in-house financial management experience gained in a high-growth organization.
- Experience with government grant reporting an asset.
- Strong judgment and creative problem-solving skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
The salary range for this position is $80,000 to $100,000 CAD per annum. In addition to salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, learning and development opportunities, and 4 weeks vacation.
