Job Title: Pediatric Respiratory Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Pediatric Respiratory Specialist to join our team at The Hospital for Sick Children. As a key member of our respiratory medicine department, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the advancement of respiratory medicine.

Job Summary:
  • Work as a permanent staff member in a hospital setting, with relocation costs covered by the employer.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care to patients with respiratory disorders.
  • Conduct medical research, prepare research papers, and study the nature and development of diseases.
  • Supervise laboratory activities, order diagnostic procedures, and act as a consultant to other physicians.
Responsibilities:
  • Conduct medical research on human disorders, illnesses, and preventive or curative methods.
  • Prepare research papers for publication and presentation.
  • Study the nature, cause, and development of diseases and the structural and functional changes caused by diseases.
  • Supervise laboratory activities, including ordering laboratory tests and X-rays.
  • Act as consultants to other physicians and provide expert advice on respiratory medicine.
Requirements:
  • Hold a degree in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, or optometry.
  • Have at least 5 years of experience in a related field.
  • Be certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and licensed by provincial or territorial authorities.
  • Be eligible for professional liability insurance.
Work Environment:
  • Work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
  • Be physically demanding, requiring standing for extended periods, walking, and bending.
  • Have excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to work under pressure.
