Role Summary

The successful candidate will be a subject matter expert in data engineering, providing technical guidance to team members and collaborating with clients and internal stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to manage a team while continuing to be hands-on.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead a team of data engineers, providing guidance and mentorship to ensure successful project delivery.
  2. Collaborate with clients and internal teams to define project scope, requirements, and deliverables.
  3. Design and build data ingestion and transformation pipelines using classic and modern tools.
  4. Establish standard design patterns and data flow documents for enterprise data warehousing solutions.
  5. Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including senior management, to provide updates on projects and ensure goals are achieved.
  6. Work closely with data science and analytics teams to understand their data needs and build systems to support their work.
  7. Manage project timelines, ensuring projects are delivered on time and meeting high quality standards.
  8. Contribute to R&D initiatives, exploring new approaches to improve work efforts.
  9. Collaborate with Talent Acquisition teams to interview and select new staff based on competencies and culture fit.

Requirements

  1. 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer, building data pipelines and warehouses, with expertise in programming languages like Python, SQL, and frameworks like Spark.
  2. 2+ years of experience working with major cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, and experience with cloud migration.
  3. 2+ years of experience leading a team of Data Engineers, including performance management, mentoring, and hiring.
  4. Solid experience with data integration, building and implementing ETL solutions.
  5. Familiarity with modern data engineering languages and platforms, such as Databricks or Snowflake.
  6. Degree in Engineering fields or related industry experience or acumen.

Nice to Have

  1. Specialized training or certification in one or more of the technologies/skills listed is an asset.
  2. Previous consulting experience.
