About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Engineering Director to join our team at Loblaw Digital. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for driving the development and implementation of our data engineering strategy, ensuring the delivery of high-quality data solutions that meet the needs of our business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a high-performing team of data engineers, ensuring they have the necessary skills and resources to deliver exceptional results.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive data engineering strategy, aligning with our business objectives and ensuring the delivery of high-quality data solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, engineering, and data science, to ensure seamless integration and delivery of data-driven solutions.
  • Design and implement robust data pipelines, ensuring data quality, integrity, and security.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including business leaders, product managers, and data scientists.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in data engineering, ensuring our team remains at the forefront of innovation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in data engineering, with a strong background in software development, data architecture, and data engineering.
  • Proven track record of leading high-performing teams and delivering complex data engineering projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong understanding of cloud-based technologies, including AWS, GCP, and Azure.
  • Experience with big data technologies, including Hadoop, Spark, and NoSQL databases.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
