The Pharmacy Coordinator is a key member of the SPS McKesson Specialty Prescription Services Corporation team, responsible for providing administrative support to pharmacists in a non-retail setting. This role requires a high level of organization, attention to detail, and effective communication skills.
Key Responsibilities- Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service to patients and healthcare professionals, meeting the standards of McKesson Canada.
- Prescription Billing: Accurately bill prescriptions through pharmacy software, ensuring all required documentation is complete and up-to-date.
- Patient File Management: Create and maintain patient files in pharmacy software, ensuring accurate and timely information.
- Site Management: Manage site calendars, appointment changes, dispensing and shipping schedules to ensure smooth operations.
- Medication Dispensing: Accurately dispense medications to ensure timely delivery to the appropriate destination.
- Patient Follow-up: Conduct patient follow-up calls to ensure outstanding accounts are resolved and medical questions are referred to a pharmacist.
- Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to all relevant guidelines, including Standard Operating Procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Inventory Management: Manage and reconcile inventory to ensure accurate stock levels.
- Temperature Monitoring: Monitor site temperatures and report any variances to the Operations manager.
- Communication: Effectively communicate with external and internal contacts, including healthcare professionals and reimbursement coordinators.
- Relationship Building: Develop and maintain professional relationships with healthcare professionals, reimbursement coordinators, and other stakeholders.
- Data Entry: Accurately enter data into various systems to ensure accurate records.
- Experience: Typically requires 3+ years of related experience in a pharmacy setting.
- Skills: Experience in a retail pharmacy setting, understanding of 3rd party billing, quick learner, clear communication, good problem-solving skills, and team player.
- Software Proficiency: Experience working with MS Office Suite.
This position requires a significant degree of independence, self-starting, and taking direction quickly. Experience in a Specialty pharmacy setting is an asset, but not required.
