Pharmacy Coordinator Job Description

The Pharmacy Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our pharmacy services. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for assisting pharmacists in dispensing medications to patients in a non-retail setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide exceptional customer service, meeting the high standards of McKesson Canada, with customer interaction primarily via phone and email.
  • Accurately bill prescriptions through pharmacy software, ensuring all necessary documentation is complete and up-to-date, including accounts receivable, dosage and dosing intervals, third-party billing restrictions, scheduled appointment dates, clinic locations, copayment management, coordination of benefits, and assignment of benefits.
  • Create patient files in pharmacy software, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Manage site calendars, appointment changes, dispensing and shipping schedules, ensuring timely and efficient operations.
  • Accurately dispense medications, ensuring timely delivery to the appropriate destination.
  • Follow up with patients for outstanding accounts, referring medical questions to pharmacists as necessary.
  • Adhere to established Standard Operating Procedures and all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Manage inventory and reconcile discrepancies, ensuring accurate stock levels.
  • Monitor site temperatures when available and report any variances to the Operations manager.
  • Effectively communicate with external and internal contacts, developing and maintaining professional relationships with healthcare professionals, reimbursement coordinators, infusion coordinators, provincial ministries of health, and private payers.
  • Enter accurate data into various systems, ensuring seamless data management.
Requirements:
  • Typically requires 3+ years of related experience.
  • Experience in a retail pharmacy setting is preferred.
  • Understanding of third-party billing is essential.
  • Quick learner, able to adapt to a fast-paced environment.
  • Clear communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Team player with a strong work ethic.
  • Experience working with MS Office Suite is an asset.
  • This position requires a high degree of independence, self-motivation, and the ability to take direction quickly.
Compensation:

We offer a competitive compensation package, including a base pay range of $41,000 - $68,400, as part of our Total Rewards program. This is determined by factors such as performance, experience, and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. In addition to base pay, other compensation, such as an annual bonus or long-term incentive opportunities, may be offered.
