About the Job

We are seeking an experienced Department Manager to join our team at Northern/NorthMart. As a key member of our store team, you will be responsible for leading and developing your department to maximize sales and grow profits.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the General Merchandise Department to achieve sales and gross profit goals;
  • Developing and implementing business plans to drive departmental performance;
  • Overseeing the correct cost landing of all invoices and adjusting retail prices to maintain gross profit margins;
  • Maintaining operational standards and controls to ensure efficient store operations;
  • Participating as a key member of the store team, providing leadership and support to store colleagues;

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of two years of experience in a high-volume grocery/retail environment;
  • A record of bottom-line and sales results in previous roles;
  • Strong knowledge of grocery operating principles;
  • Proven organizational, planning, and prioritizing skills;
  • Highly motivated and adventurous, with an appreciation for small-town life in a culturally diverse setting (considered an asset);
