**Job Description**
We are looking for a highly motivated and adventurous individual with a passion for retail management to join our team as a Department Head. As a key member of our store team, you will be responsible for managing the General Merchandise Department to maximize sales and grow profits. Your duties will include:
- Developing departmental business plans to meet or exceed sales and gross profit goals;
- Maintaining operating goals by monitoring performance, following merchandising practices, supporting promotions, and maintaining operational standards and controls;
- Providing regular input to Sales Development Team on sales trends and new wanted items;
- Overseeing the correct cost landing of all invoices and adjusting retail prices to maintain gross profit margins;
- Ensuring that daily operating disciplines, as described in the General Merchandise Manual (Retail Basics), are consistently met;
- Maintaining equipment and fixtures as directed by the manufacturer and Facility Maintenance;
- Protecting company assets: maintaining and controlling inventories;
**Required Skills and Qualifications**
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A minimum of two years of experience in a high-volume grocery/retail environment;
- A record of bottom-line and sales results in previous roles;
- Computer knowledge of Excel and Outlook;
- Strong knowledge of grocery operating principles;
- Proven organizational, planning, and prioritizing skills;
- Highly motivated and adventurous with an appreciation for small-town life in a culturally diverse setting considered an asset;
**Salary and Benefits**
We offer a competitive salary of $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience, as well as relocation assistance, food and housing allowances, and paid training. We also provide a comprehensive benefits package, including health and dental insurance, retirement savings plan, and employee discounts.
**Relocation Arrangements**
We will make relocation arrangements and pay for them. You must be willing to relocate to multiple markets in the northernmost regions of Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, Saskatchewan, Quebec, Nunavut, and Northwest Territories.
