We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced retail professional to join our team as a General Merchandise Department Manager. As a key member of our store team, you will be responsible for the successful day-to-day operation of the General Merchandise Department, ensuring that it meets or exceeds sales and gross profit goals.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of experience in a high-volume grocery/retail environment, with a strong background in customer service, sales, and operations. You will also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

As a General Merchandise Department Manager, you will be accountable for implementing company standards, protecting company assets, maintaining a local competitive position, and developing and training staff. You will also support the rest of the store management team and foster positive customer relationships.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent customer service and deliver on the Value Offer
  • Focus on customer service as a top priority by creating strong customer relationships and providing excellent customer service
  • Monitor and adjust customer service levels as needed
  • Deal with customer complaints and requests quickly and effectively
  • Address and respond to all customer inquiries
  • Schedule staff to maximize customer service and fulfill business needs

Requirements:

  • A minimum of two years of experience in a high-volume grocery/retail environment
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Record of bottom line and sales results in previous roles
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions both verbally and orally
  • Computer knowledge of Excel and Outlook
  • Strong knowledge of grocery operating principles
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with a high attention to detail
  • Proven organizational, planning, and prioritizing skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills, and superior customer service skills
