Hangar Operations Manager

Coulson Aviation is a leading global aerial firefighting company that operates in Canada, the USA, Australia, and Chile. We specialize in producing, maintaining, and operating a fleet of large aerial firefighting aircraft, consisting of both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft. Our fleet enables us to provide rapid aerial fire suppression services, including initial attack and extended attack protocols. We are currently seeking a highly skilled Hangar Manager to join our team in Port Alberni, BC.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe Hangar Manager will report to the Director of Maintenance (DOM) and Vice President of Structures. This role will direct and support hangar staff to ensure the hangar is equipped, organized, and ready to receive and execute aircraft visits. Key responsibilities include:
Hangar Facility Management- Inventory Management: Plan and manage materials, tools, and support equipment as required by tasks.
- Documentation and Reporting: Ensure all documentation and reports are generated, completed, and distributed within appropriate timelines.
- Inventory Checks: Conduct inventory checks both pre-project and post-project.
- Parts Issuance: Ensure parts are issued accurately against work orders.
- Supply Chain Management: Work with the Supply Chain team to ensure parts requirements are met.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with established policies, procedures, and processes.
- Technical Documentation: Ensure proper management of technical documentation and maintenance controls.
- Security Requirements: Ensure adherence to security requirements in support of Inventory Controls.
- Aircraft Departure Procedures: Ensure completion of all aircraft departure procedures.
- Process Improvement: Identify, investigate, and apply corrective actions to problematic issues with hangar processes.
- Staff Scheduling: Help create and maintain staff schedules.
- Housekeeping: Ensure proper housekeeping.
- Selection Process: Participate in the selection process for new hangar support staff.
- Timesheet Review: Review and approve timesheets.
- Task Delegation: Delegate monthly, weekly, and daily tasks.
- On-the-Job Training: Provide and delegate on-the-job training.
- Mandatory Training: Ensure all mandatory training requirements are being met.
- Performance Management: Conduct performance management.
- Discipline: Handle discipline matters.
- Conflict Resolution: Resolve conflicts.
- Direct Supervision: Directly supervise hangar support staff.
The Hangar Manager will also assist the DOM and Structures Manager with other tasks and projects as assigned.
RequirementsTo be successful in this role, you will need:
- 5 years' experience: 5 years' experience in an aircraft maintenance or hangar environment.
- Management Experience: Prior management or supervisory experience.
- Aircraft Maintenance Engineer License: Hold an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) license.
- Travel Requirements: Valid Passport and ability to travel.
- Driver's License: Valid driver's license.
- Transport Canada Regulations: Knowledge of Transport Canada regulations.
- Computer Skills: Basic computer knowledge and understanding of aviation-based software.
- Equipment Operation: Ability to operate a forklift and equipment pertinent to aviation support.
- Aircraft Tooling: Knowledge of aircraft tooling, including various Ground Support Equipment (GSE).
- Problem-Solving: Ability to complete tasks with little direction.
- Self-Driven: Self-driven, motivated, with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Team Player: Works well independently or as part of a team.
