Radiation Therapy Education Specialist

The Clinical and Radiation Therapy Education Coordinator plays a vital role in facilitating the clinical education of Radiation Therapy students, evaluating their application of theoretical and practical education in the clinical setting, and assessing their clinical competence. This position requires a strong understanding of the Medical Radiation Sciences Program curriculum and the ability to apply this knowledge to facilitate effective education in the clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities- Facilitate the clinical education of Radiation Therapy students, including evaluating their application of theoretical and practical education in the clinical setting and assessing their clinical competence.
- Maintain all internal student records and complete reports required as part of the students' records.
- Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate education and development programs to enhance clinical proficiency, quality improvement, and team skills of Radiation Therapists in the department.
- Facilitate and expedite continuous learning and professional development through coaching and/or mentoring of staff and learners.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the Medical Radiation Sciences Program curriculum and apply this knowledge to facilitate effective education of radiation therapy staff and students in the clinical environment.
- Bachelor Degree (BSc) in Radiation Therapy.
- Current Radiation Therapist registration with the CMRTO required.
- Current OAMRT and CAMRT membership preferred.
- Minimum of five years post-graduate experience with competence in all areas of medical radiation treatment.
- Adult teaching certificate/diploma from a recognized Community College or agency an asset.
- Documented evidence of previous clinical teaching experience and/or preceptorship of staff and/or students within the last three years.
- Demonstrated proficiency in mentoring and the development of new staff.
- Demonstrated evidence of an ability to develop, conduct, and evaluate educational programs for learners.
- Demonstrated ongoing commitment to professional development.
- Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent technical, communication, assessment, and critical analysis skills.
- Demonstrated adaptability, flexibility, compassion, initiative when dealing with students, patients, and families.
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize workload.
- Knowledge of computer systems and general office software.
