We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced OTR Tire Technician to join our team at Kal Tire. As a key member of our Mining Tire Group, you will be responsible for providing exceptional tire service and repair to our customers in the mining industry.
Key Responsibilities- Provide safe and efficient tire service and repair to meet customer needs
- Perform all aspects of tire shop work, including dismounting and mounting tires, ensuring proper load requirements, and maintaining equipment
- Assist mine maintenance staff as required and perform routine maintenance checks on tools and equipment
- Develop and implement tire inspection and maintenance programs to ensure optimal tire performance
- Collaborate with customers to understand their tire needs and provide solutions to meet their requirements
- Dismount and mount tires for various vehicles in the mining industry
- Ensure safe and proper tire mounting and load requirements
- Perform equipment checks and calibrations, and maintain equipment in good working order
- Fit and remove wheels from any type of vehicle, and mount and strip any type of tire and assemble rims
- Balance any type of tire and rim assembly, and perform repairs to tires and tubes
- Conduct inspections and determine the suitability of wheel components to remain in service
- Operate heavy-duty tire servicing equipment and tools, and complete required reporting and logging of data
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and requirements, and maintain a safe working environment
- Report hazards, unsafe work conditions, and equipment to your supervisor or lead hand
- Participate in regular meetings and inspections to promote and improve safety in the workplace
- Actively participate in emergency evacuation procedures, and comply with site emergency procedures
- At least two years of related experience as a tire technician, preferably in the mining industry
- OTR service training and certifications desired
- Experience operating and maintaining tire manipulators, forklifts, and service trucks
- Ability to physically perform the duties of an OTR Tire Technician safely
- Ability to obtain and maintain all applicable licenses, certificates, and training required to work at mine sites
