About the Opportunity

Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a Physician Lead to support the implementation of a province-wide Clinical Information System. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading institutional efforts to build, validate, and implement the physician and advanced practice provider components of the system.

Responsibilities/Accountabilities
  • Support OPOR Readiness and clinical practice standardization across NSHA and IWK to improve patient care.
  • Engage patient care providers to contribute to the effective use of the clinical information system.
  • Assist in creating clinical protocols and standardization to facilitate successful adoption of clinical applications.
  • Serve as a practicing physician leader who uses clinical information systems for patient care.
Deliverables
  • The Physician Lead will be assigned by service area.
  • Active member of PAC and departmental/network meetings.
  • Participate in Physician Needs Assessment and engage with champions and subject matter experts.
  • Directly liaise with physicians with questions, concerns, and feedback.
Eligibility
  • Medical Degree required.
  • Licensed physician with current practice required.
  • Informatics experience preferred.

  • Ability to listen to the voice of our providers.
  • Viewed as credible, visionary, and able to produce results.
  • Sound understanding of technical issues.
  • Commitment to the use of technology to improve patient care.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Significant understanding of pain points, capabilities, and deficiencies in the process.
  • Possesses good grasp of clinical workflow inpatient specialty units.
  • Previous experience in clinical outcomes, patient safety, and quality management.

Time Requirements: Estimated at 4-6 hours per week.

Compensation: By combination of deliverable compensation.
