Meet Your Future Colleagues:

The architecture team operates as a vital support unit within our Technology department, assisting business applications, service platforms, and project management teams. We explore and develop design alternatives for business initiatives, maintain comprehensive views of existing systems, and guide strategic vendor partnerships. Collaborating closely with product management and IT engineering teams, we ensure that architectural designs transition smoothly into implementation and production.

We also lead the engineering guild, which fosters community, shares best practices, explores emerging trends, and provides educational opportunities and career guidance for our broader IT engineering family.

Key Responsibilities for the Senior Architect Role:

  • Developing detailed design options for product leaders during the project intake process, including trade-offs, necessary policies, risk assessments, and alignment with overarching strategies.
  • Guiding the technology implementation and domain functions of the Omnichannel platform while ensuring alignment of related application designs and tool selections.
  • Collaborating with business leaders and subject matter experts to identify new capabilities that align with business priorities and strategic goals, focusing on areas such as comprehensive planning, ERP, finance, HR, and other interconnected systems.
  • Promoting and facilitating technology that enhances the Arc'teryx guest experience, emphasizing user experience, seamless purchasing processes, and brand engagement.
  • Identifying needs and recommending integration solutions to expand recommerce offerings and sales territories.

Future Projects You May Engage In:

  • Leading cross-functional initiatives aimed at reducing carbon emissions and energy consumption in IT deployments, contributing to sustainability goals across our supply chain and product lifecycle.
  • Establishing common practices and standards for the architecture group.
  • Overseeing engineering guild activities and advocating for excellence in engineering practices.
  • Advising on developer services to support agile software development and service deployment.

Are You the Right Fit for the Senior Architect Position?

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline is required.
  • Advanced degrees or certifications in technology leadership, cloud computing, or system architecture are highly desirable.
  • A minimum of 12 years in IT engineering roles with increasing levels of responsibility, including prior experience as an IT architect.
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing foundational IT capabilities in areas such as application integration, identity and access management, data schema, service interface design, and shared platform operations.
  • Experience in application domains such as supply chain, eCommerce, loyalty/marketing, manufacturing, warehousing, and product lifecycle management.
  • Ability to discover, plan, and address cross-application and business domain requirements and end-to-end processes.
  • Experience in synthesizing solution options and documenting trade-offs, required policies, solution risks, and best-fit recommendations.
  • Skills in assessing existing systems and domain flows to inform and guide project design and strategy.
  • A passion for mentoring and guiding IT engineering best practices, skills, techniques, and career development.
  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of inspiring teams and stakeholders with a clear vision and innovative ideas.
  • Direct retail business experience is a plus.
  • A strong passion for your work, complemented by a love for outdoor activities.

Compensation for this role ranges from CAD$122,000 to CAD$152,000 annually, based on factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, and education.
