Laundry Aide Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Laundry Aide to join our team at Bloomington Cove Community. As a Laundry Aide, you will play a critical role in ensuring the cleanliness and comfort of our residents.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide laundry support services by collecting, distributing, processing, and inventorying linens and personal clothing.
  • Sort linens, load and unload washers and dryers, iron, and mend as required.
  • Fold, sort, and load linen and clothing onto carts for distribution and delivery, and audit linen for labels and repairs.
  • Discard and record inappropriate inventory when necessary.
  • Maintain high sanitation standards, a clean and tidy work area, and equipment, applying appropriate infection control protocols as required.
  • Observe operation of machines and report malfunctioning to team leader.
  • Assist in maintaining laundry facilities, equipment, and supplies.
  • Complete cleaning duties as outlined in the laundry room area.
  • Maintain a clean, safe environment for residents utilizing infection control principles.
  • Support and participate in quality initiatives by providing input and suggestions for improvement, reporting feedback to immediate team leader.
Requirements:
  • Secondary school graduate or equivalent.
  • Knowledge related to infection control, cleaning practices, housekeeping operations, and equipment.
  • Ability to work independently or as a team.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and residents.
  • All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check. Applicable to Ontario applicants.
  • All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Criminal Records Check. Applicable to British Columbia applicants.

Bonus points for having previous experience in Institutional Cleaning/Laundry in Long Term Care or Retirement Residence.
