Job Summary

Big Instance Technologies Inc. is seeking a skilled Telecommunications Technician to join our team. As a key member of our technical staff, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing telecommunications equipment and systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, arrange, remove, and maintain telephone equipment, wiring, and associated hardware
  • Inspect operation of telecommunications equipment and identify potential issues
  • Repair or replace defective telephone equipment and troubleshoot system faults
  • Test installed telephone systems to locate transmission faults and analyze test results
  • Complete and maintain test and service reports, and determine the nature, cause, and location of trouble
  • Initiate the dispatch of appropriate repair personnel and instruct apprentices as needed
  • Install electromechanical, analog, and digital trunking systems, circuits, and equipment in telecommunications central offices and switching centres
  • Operate computerized testing systems to conduct service tests on customer lines and equipment
  • Climb and work aloft on poles, ladders, or other support structures, and connect, disconnect, and relocate cable outlets
  • Maintain and repair aerial and underground transmission systems, and repair or replace faulty cables, power suppliers, and amplifiers
Requirements
  • College/CEGEP education and 1-2 years of experience in telecommunications
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and attention to detail
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, and ability to work effectively in a team
  • Flexibility, initiative, and judgement, with a strong client focus and efficient interpersonal skills
