Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Senior Financial Planning Analyst to join our team at Alberta Innovates.

About the Role

This is a full-time permanent position based in Edmonton, Alberta. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in our finance department, working closely with corporate and granting areas.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting or finance, with a minimum of 3 years related experience. They will be responsible for preparing and analyzing financial reports, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing insights to support strategic decision-making.

The successful candidate will partner with business areas to prepare monthly forecasts and annual budgets, provide insightful advice and strategic recommendations to drive financial planning and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and analyze financial reports, including variance analysis and budget-to-forecast reporting.
  • Partner with business areas to develop and implement financial plans and strategies.
  • Provide expert consultation on financial matters, including contract review and financial scenario evaluation.
  • Compile and present financial information to stakeholders, ensuring clarity and actionable insights.
Qualifications and Skills

To be considered for this role, the successful candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • CPA – Chartered Professional Accountant.
  • Minimum 3 years related accounting experience.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and detail-oriented skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Adaptability to work effectively in a changing environment.
  • Strong proficiency with the English language, excellent verbal & written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office software.

Compensation Package

The estimated salary range for this position is between $80,000 and $110,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
