We are seeking a qualified and experienced First Nations Language and Culture Teacher to join our team as an itinerant position based in Hazelton and including Kitwanga. The successful candidate will have a strong background in teaching students at all grade levels and will be able to work as part of a team to develop and implement individualized learning plans.
Key Responsibilities- Teach First Nations language and culture to students at all grade levels
- Develop and implement individualized learning plans for students with academic, social, and emotional learning difficulties
- Work collaboratively with teachers and staff to support student learning
- Provide cultural support and guidance to students, parents, and staff
- Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligible for)
- Experience teaching students at all grade levels
- Working knowledge of the learning standards, curricular competencies, and core competencies within the revised BC Curriculum
- Ability to work as part of a team to develop and implement individualized learning plans
- Strong classroom management skills
- Ability to relate well with students, parents, and staff members
- Salary as per collective agreement
- Relocation allowances for teachers from other areas
- Recruitment and Retention allowance for all teachers
- Isolation allowance for remote communities
- Benefits as per the collective agreement
