About This Opportunity

We are seeking a Mechanical Fire Safety Engineer to join our team in Toronto. As a key member of our Mechanical group, you will be responsible for ensuring that our clients receive clear communication and effective project management. You must be able to multitask efficiently and take on significant projects with enthusiasm.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop fire protection system concepts, working closely with Principal-in-charge or PM as needed.
  • Analyze and manage fire protection designs, keeping an eye on construction budgets and warning of potential overspending.
  • C coordinate document creation with internal and external teams, including architects, interior designers, and other disciplines.
  • Review all fire protection deliverables for completeness and accuracy at various stages of development.
  • Prepare detailed fire protection calculations and select equipment, delegating tasks to designers and CAD/BIM Technicians as necessary.
  • Create detailed drawings for standpipe, sprinkler, fire extinguishers, and specialty systems.
  • Contribute to project specifications, preparing detailed specifications for all fire protection scope.
  • Apply your expertise to managing construction administration processes.
  • Monitor and prepare change notices for contract administration activities.
  • Promote company standards for project administration, documentation, and processes.
  • Serve as a contract administrator for designated projects, overseeing timely completion of all contract administration tasks.
Requirements:
  • At least 5 years of experience in fire protection engineering for residential, commercial, and institutional buildings.
  • A licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario, capable of taking professional responsibility for fire protection design and signing/sealing related documents.
  • Familiarity with relevant Ontario Building Code and NFPA standards, with the ability to communicate requirements effectively.
  • Advanced knowledge of Ontario Building Code and NFPA standards.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership qualities and independence.
  • Showcase ability to work in complex environments with multiple projects and clients.
  • Exhibit excellent communication skills through client and staff relations.
  • Have experience collaborating with consultants and contractors, coordinating major projects.
  • Showcase problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrate solid knowledge of engineering concepts, methods, and standards.
Nice to Have:
  • LEED certification or experience implementing sustainable design (LEED projects) is an asset.
