Job Title: Lead Hand Mechanic

Tiger Calcium Services Inc. is seeking a skilled and experienced Lead Hand Mechanic to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for overseeing the operations of our nightshift crew and ensuring the smooth maintenance and repair of our fleet of commercial vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to mechanics, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge needed to perform their duties effectively.
  • Assist mechanics with troubleshooting and repairs, using your expertise to diagnose and resolve complex issues.
  • Generate, assign, and review work orders using our TMT Fleet Maintenance Software, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Perform CVIP Inspections, preventative maintenance, and diagnose and repair our fleet of tractors and trailers, adhering to manufacturer specifications.
  • Mentor and coach apprentices on the job, enhancing their skills and abilities and ensuring they are equipped to succeed in their roles.
  • Diagnose the cause of any malfunction and perform repairs to the manufacturer's specifications, ensuring that all vehicles are safe and roadworthy.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy personal work area and assist with general workshop cleaning duties, promoting a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Adhere to, promote, and enforce our Safety Management System policies and procedures, ensuring that all team members are aware of and comply with safety protocols.
  • Support and encourage continuous learning and improvement in work practices, staying up-to-date with the latest technologies and techniques.
  • Some out-of-hours work may be required on a call-out basis, and you will be expected to perform related work as required.
Requirements:
  • Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic with CVIP ticket.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity within a maintenance shop environment.
  • A Valid Alberta Class 1 Driver's license would be considered an asset.
  • Experience with Cummins engines, aftertreatment diagnostics, hydraulic systems, Super B trailers, and TMT Fleet Maintenance Software would be considered an asset.
  • Experience and considerable knowledge of the methods, materials, and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of various types of heavy equipment and other power-driven equipment and tools.
  • Working knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
  • Skilled in the operation of a variety of tools and equipment used in the repair of trucks and heavy equipment.
  • Capable of preparing and maintaining accurate records and reports.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair electrical, airbrake mechanical, and hydraulic system failures.
  • Familiarity with the TMT software application would be considered an asset.
  • Has a collaborative communication style at all levels of the organization, demonstrating an open, honest, and consistent approach to working with others.
  • Ability to supervise crews of 6 or more employees.
  • Ability to work independently and to ensure quality completion of multiple projects.
