Job Summary:

The University of Saskatchewan is seeking an Assistant Mixed Methods Research Manager to join the Canadian Hub for Applied and Social Research (CHASR). This is a unique opportunity to work with a diverse array of applied and social research projects, utilizing mixed research methods to support academic-based researchers, government clients, and private sector firms.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the delivery of quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods research support services across CHASR.
  • Support the Mixed Methods Research Manager and Specialist in managing new and ongoing research studies that utilize mixed research approaches.
  • Conduct and provide support with quantitative/qualitative data collection, analysis/interpretation, transcription support, and reporting activities.
  • Provide administrative assistance to Research Managers in overseeing the day-to-day operations and administration of projects.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships and collaborations with faculty, external partners, and research staff across CHASR.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in social or applied sciences or related discipline (or equivalent degrees and experience).
  • Three years of related experience in managing and conducting both quantitative and qualitative research projects.
  • Experience or evidence of capacity to facilitate and manage projects, and to cultivate effective, cooperative, and collegial working relationships with a broad range of constituents in a complex environment.
  • Expertise in commonly used methods such as descriptive analysis, exploratory data analysis, inferential analysis, and qualitative data coding and thematic analysis.
  • Proficiency in using statistical packages such as SPSS, survey platforms such as Voxco (Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey), NVivo, and Microsoft 365.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Direct experience working in a research academic environment and experience with collecting quantitative/qualitative data, quantitative/qualitative data analysis, and academic writing.
  • Experience or demonstrated capacity to apply the following: NVivo (any version), SPSS, and Microsoft 365.
  • Experience with other statistical analysis software such as R, STATA, or UCINET.

Work Environment:

The Assistant Mixed Methods Research Manager will work both independently and in a team environment with researchers from a broad array of disciplines, providing expertise and specialized support to ensure that quantitative/qualitative data collection, analysis, and reporting needs are addressed.

Reporting Relationship:

The Assistant Mixed Methods Research Manager will report to the Mixed Methods Research Manager and Specialist at CHASR.
